Who cares about a seed?

Mark 4:26+27

He also said, ‘This is what the kingdom of God is like. A man scatters seed on the ground. Night and day, whether he sleeps or gets up, the seed sprouts and grows, though he does not know how.’”

When a farmer plants a seed, it eventually grows and transforms into something much greater than it originally was.

God’s Church is no different. We who believe in Jesus are like the farmer. We “plant” the good news of sins forgiven in Jesus’ name into the soil of our neighbor’s heart. Then the Holy Spirit makes the tree of faith grow.

How it works is a mystery. We have nothing to do with its growth. God gives us the privilege of spreading his good news seed, but it is he who creates and sustains a person’s faith. Like the farmer, we need not worry about what the seed will do but only trust that God will grow his field as he sees fit.

Live and speak God’s Word, my friends, and watch God’s labor flourish.
