Why have a statement of faith? Jesus told his Church that He wants us to teach people to hold on tightly to everything he’s instructed us, and that the mark of a true follower of Jesus is one who holds onto his teachings. (John 8:31-32; Matthew 28:18-20) Additionally, the Bible teaches us that as time goes along, people will be less and less willing to listen to the truth (2 Timothy 4:3-4), even that the devil will masquerade as an angel of light. (2 Corinthians 11:14) How important it is for us to know the Bible, and to know that the church we’re considering is teaching the Bible accurately.
