What’s with the robe?

1 Thessalonians 4:18

“Therefore encourage one another with these words.”

We all need encouragement; God tells us to encourage each other, and here, specifically tells us to encourage each other “with these words.” What words are those?

The verses immediately before this talk about Judgement Day! They tell us that Jesus will return, that there will be the voice of the archangel, the trumpet call of God, that the dead will be raised, that believers will be snatched up to be with Jesus forever in heaven! In short, the words that God wants us to use to encourage each other are these: “Jesus is coming! Jesus is coming! Jesus is coming!”

And so, my brothers and sisters, be encouraged! Jesus is coming! He’s coming to take you and me home to heaven! And it will be GREAT!

Encouraged by the truth that Jesus is coming, just like you,
