What am I worth?
Mark 7:21-23
“For from within, out of men’s hearts, come evil thoughts, sexual immorality, theft, murder, adultery, 22 greed, malice, deceit, lewdness, envy, slander, arrogance, and folly. 23 All these evils come from inside and make a man ‘unclean.’”
“Why do I feel so lousy about myself?!” Perhaps it sounds crazy, but the problem is … you! (Me too.) What’s pouring out of our hearts? A whole bunch of garbage is pouring out, that’s what! And none of it makes me feel good about myself. Rather, it makes me feel shame, guilt, and pain. What a wretched sinner I am! No wonder I feel lousy about myself!
But can you imagine? God thought that you were worth so much, that he was willing to die for you! To put it differently, God’s evaluation of you was that you were – and are – worth the blood of Jesus Himself, because that’s what God “paid” in order to buy you and your salvation!
And that? That makes me feel good. Real good!
Thankful for my eternal worth, just like you,
pastor
