What a task!

Acts 1:9

“After he said this, he was taken up before their very eyes, and a cloud hid him from their sight.”

One of the realities for us humans is that we tend to remember people the way they looked the last time we saw them. Of course, Jesus knows that about us humans. So, does it make sense that the last sight he gave of himself to his disciples might have been super-well-planned? Sure!

Jesus’ ascension – which we celebrate today – is that last sight. Indeed, each detail is neat! We’ll focus today just on the verse above, that the cloud hid him from their sight. Note – it doesn’t say that he got so small that they couldn’t see him. Rather, the cloud hid him. What’s the implication?

The implication is that Jesus hadn’t actually left! Instead, he was still there; he was just hidden from their eyes.

And he’s still here today, too. He’s with you always, to the end of the world!

Thankful, just like you, that Jesus is still here,
