No doubt about it!

Tistus 3:4-5a

“But when the kindness and love of God our Savior appeared, 5 he saved us, …”

In the Greek, the word translated “love” is a somewhat unusual word for “love.” It’s the word “philanthropia,” from which we get our word “philanthropy.” What do “philanthropic organizations” do? They all have some niche that they focus on. And, none of them has unlimited resources, so they can’t help everyone who could like the help or who could use the help.

What a contrast to God’s “philanthropy!” God’s philanthropy is for everyone! He has no “niches.” He loves rich and poor, old and young, the sick and the healthy, people of every race, etc. In addition, God’s philanthropy is unlimited! Jesus’ life, death and resurrection was sufficient to win eternal life for all people!

If God’s philanthropy has no niches, and is sufficient for everyone, then you know for sure that God’s philanthropy – God’s love – is for you!

Thankful for God’s philanthropy, just like you,

pastor
