It happened on this day || Monday of Holy Week

Mark 11:20+21

“In the morning, as they went along, they saw the fig tree withered from the roots. Peter remembered and said to Jesus, ‘Rabbi, look! The fig tree you cursed has withered!’”

On Sunday, Jesus had been hungry, and he looked for figs on this tree. Finding none, Jesus had said, “May you never bear fruit again.” Only one day later, that fig tree was withered!

Jesus spoke. His words came true.

And so it will always be! When Jesus speaks, you can count on the fact that it will happen. So when he says that whoever doesn’t believe in him will go to hell, believe it! But when He says that “God so loved the world,” you can count on that being true, too. When He says that baptism saves, you can count on it! When He says that He’s preparing a place for the believer in heaven, you can know for sure that it’s taking place!

For proof? Just look at the withered fig tree on the road to Jerusalem.

Thankful for the withered fig tree, just like you,

pastor
