It happened on this day || Good Friday

Why do we call Good Friday good? If we’re honest with ourselves Good Friday forces us to look at our own sinfulness. For that reason, it is an emotional day because we know that our Savior suffered death on the cross to pay for our sins and the sins of the entire world. Seemingly there was nothing good about that particular Friday.

However, nothing could be further from the truth. While it’s true we are confronted with our own sins on Good Friday, we are also confronted with God’s love for us sinners. He didn’t leave mankind dead in our sins. No; instead he paid the full price for all of our sins. On Good Friday our relationship with God was restored.

We call Good Friday good because on the cross Jesus said “It is finished.” He made full atonement for all of our sins. He won for us eternal life through faith in him as our Savior. Amen.
