How can we know for sure?

Acts 2:23+24a

“[Jesus] was handed over to you by God’s set purpose and foreknowledge; and you, with the help of wicked men, put him to death by nailing him to the cross. 24 But God raised him from the dead,…”

How can we know that Jesus really rose? One proof is the way the disciples acted after Jesus’ resurrection. The above statements were made by Peter. Yes, the same Peter who had promised to not deny Jesus, then failed spectacularly, even denying that he knew Jesus. He was fearful, weak, and vacillating!

And now? Now Peter’s bold, courageous, and clear! He’s speaking before a large crowd, and he doesn’t mince words: “…you put him to death!” Wow! He had no idea how the crowd was going to react! Would they rush to attack Peter and the rest?!? Maybe! And yet Peter boldly testified!

Why the huge change? It was because he’d seen the resurrected Jesus, and been empowered by the Holy Spirit to testify.

Be assured, brothers and sisters, that Jesus really has risen! Know that the Holy Spirit is now blessing you so that you believe that wonderful truth!

Thankful for Jesus’ resurrection, and the Holy Spirit’s empowerment, just like you,
