Greater than angels!?

2 Kings 6:16+17

“’Don’t be afraid,’ the prophet answered. ‘Those who are with us are more than those who are with them.’ And Elisha prayed, ‘Open his eyes, Lord, so that he may see.’ Then the Lord opened the servant’s eyes, and he looked and saw the hills full of horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha.”

So, what has stood against you this week? Has the devil been attacking, bringing temptations galore? Has the world allured, offering up its wealth or power or supposed “fun” stuff (which you know to be ungodly)? Has your own sinful flesh been particularly obstinate? All three?

“Those who are with us are more than those who are with them.” God’s angels are with you. Even more, Jesus Himself is with you! No, God hasn’t promised to “open your eyes” to see those angel armies; the fact that he’s told you that they’re there is enough.

So be assured! Those angels are there! And Jesus – with his forgiving love and powerful guidance – is with you, too. And he’ll never leave.

Thankful for the angels and Jesus, just like you,
