Give it all you’ve got!

Isaiah 66:19,21

“I will set a sign among them, and I will send some of those who survive to the nations—to Tarshish, to the Libyans and Lydians (famous as archers), to Tubal and Greece, and to the distant islands that have not heard of my fame or seen my glory. They will proclaim my glory among the nations. … And I will select some of them also to be priests and Levites,” says the Lord.

This must have sounded CRAZY to the Old Testament Israelites! Why? Because in the Old Testament, ONLY the descendants of Aaron (who was from the tribe of Levi) could serve as priests. If you couldn’t prove Aaronic lineage, you couldn’t serve!

But what does God promise here? He promises that not only will non-sons-of-Aaron serve as priests, but that it will be GENTILES who will serve as priests! What?!?

Can you imagine? God has brought you and me into his eternal family. He has made us New Testament believers to be a “royal priesthood” (cf. 1Peter 2:9-10), getting to serve God with our lives. Thank God for us love, extended to all the nations!

Thankful to be a “priest,” just like you,
