Do you like to win?
2 Corinthians 2:14a
“But thanks be to God, who always leads us in triumphal procession in Christ…”
“We are the champions, my friend,” the band Queen sang. It’s of course become a bit of an anthem for any sort of victory celebration.
This past Sunday we were reminded that God had promised the Old Testament people that the coming Savior would be a champion! And as we look at Jesus, we can see it! He drives out demons and heals the sick and gives sight to the blind, etc. He even rises from the dead! What a champion! What a winner!
But us? So often we feel like utter losers! When I lose my patience or fail to speak when I should; when I’m selfish or angry or doubt-filled; when I give in to that same temptation – again! – the devil points the accusing finger at me and says, “Loser! Loser! Loser!”
But what does God say? God says that you and I are in a victory march! God says that he’s always leading us in triumphal procession! “Always?!?” Yep, always. That’s true because there will never be a day when Jesus hasn’t died and risen for you, and so there will never be a day when you’re not being led in triumphal procession.
So sing it with me, “We are the champions, my friend!”
Thankful to be a champion, just like you,
pastor
