Dealing with rejection

Psalm 2:1-3

Why do the nations conspire and the peoples plot in vain? The kings of the earth rise up and the rulers band together against the Lord and against his anointed, saying, “Let us break their chains and throw off their shackles…”

Psalm 2 is about the rejection of Jesus, the Lord’s anointed. Though Psalm 2 was written thousands of years ago about the coming Messiah, its words are as true today as when the writer originally wrote them. Many still conspire against the message of Christ and even put Christians to death. Sometimes, we Christians also reject Jesus when we choose sin over Godly living or when we don’t bring our troubles to God in prayer but rely on someone or something else for comfort and answers.

So let us repent of this and remember that God the Father rejected his One and Only Son on the Cross so that he could accept us and give us comfort and peace. Not only is heaven open to us because of Jesus, but through him, God graciously listens to us when we pray, and he gives us confidence to speak His Word in the face of rejection. As the Psalm says, “Blessed are all who take refuge in him.”
